The 13th International Congress on the Zoogeography and Ecology of Greece and Adjacent Regions (ICZEGAR) was held in Herakleion, Crete between 7 and 11 of October, 2015. The congress' scope included all issues related to systematic, phylogeny, biogeography, ecology, evolution, and conservation on animal species in the eastern Mediterranean region.

Euromarine Foresight Symposium "Future Coast - Europe"
The Euromarine Foresight Symposium "Future Coast - Europe" (http://www.io-warnemuende.de/future-coast-home.html) was held in the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW), from the 5th to the 7th of October 2015.
Dr Christos Arvanitidis participated in the symposium and presented an new approach for the integrated management of coastal ecosystems supported by the LifewatchGreece Infrastructure.

European Researchers' Night
The European Researchers' Night celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2015. All the events took place - simultaneously - on 25 September, in 280 cities across Europe and beyond. The Hellenic Centre of Marine Research, again this year welcomed the Researcher's Night at Rhodes island with many games, photography, painting, poster, experiments and visits to laboratories, at the Hydrobiological Station of Rhodes. LifeWatch Greece team participated actively to this event by presenting part of the LifewatchGreece portal, including MicroCT and RvLAB for educational purposes.

50th European Marine Biology Symposium on Helgoland
The 50th European Marine Biology Symposium (http://www.awi.de/embs50) was held in Helgoland (Germany) between the 21st and 25th of September 2015. Dr Christos Arvanitidis, coordinator of LifeWatchGreece, presented the aims and scope of the project to the congress participants'. In addition, Dr Arvanitidis presented the R Virtual Laboratory (R vLab) and its optimized functions for analysis of ecological community data.

MTSR 2015: 9th Metadata and Semantics Research Conference
The ninth International Conference on Metadata and Semantics Research (MTSR'15), that was hosted in Manchester Metropolitan University, on 9 - 11 of September 2015, aimed to bring together scholars and practitioners that share a common interest in the interdisciplinary field of metadata, semantics, linked data and ontologies. Dr Panagiotis Papadakos from the Lifewatch Greece Team of FORTH presented "Species Identification through Preference-enriched Faceted Search", a work based on the Preference-enriched Faceted Search system Hippalus.

EGI-LifeWatch meeting
The EGI-LifeWatch meeting was organized by the Competence Center in the Instituto de Física de Cantabria in Santander between the 2nd and 4th of September 2015. During the meeting the progress of the ESFRI construction was analyzed, the next actions were discussed and the following topics were specifically addressed: 1) Pattern recognition tools for Citizen Science, 2) Data flow handling, from the instrumentation to the repositories, 3) Use of R-tools, 4) Workflows: Galaxy and TRUFA.

Open GIS Symposium
The Open GIS Symposium and Summer School was held in Chania between 20th-24th July 2015 with participants from many countries, mostly European and African. The event started with the Open GIS symposium which included a number of interesting talks on the value and the future of GIS and some posters about recent GIS-related work and applications based on real-life needs. The summer school included an introduction to the geographical data science and then it mainly focused to open source software like QGIS and ARCSWAT.

The R vLab in ECODAR
The R Virtual Laboratory (R vLab) was presented to the participants of the ECODAR summer school in Mytilene (Lesbos, Greece) which took place during the 11th of July 2015.
The R vLab is a primary component of the LifewatchGreece Infrastructure, which is under development in the context of the LifeWatch ESFRI Project. The audience included students, researchers, academics, environmental managers and policy makers from many countries around the world.
