The second meeting of LifeWatchGreece Data Managers will take place at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, 16 - 20 March 2015. This meeting will be an actual hands-on workshop, which will aim to bring together the LifeWatchGreece Data Managers from all over Greece in order to digitize species occurence data from historical publications. The workshop will give an opportunity to exchange expertise and knowledge on the field of data digitization, both for terrestrial and marine data. Historical data present a unique resource of information, since they serve as a baseline for ecological and biogeographical studies. Data rescued from old publications will be brought into modern standards and integrated into global species occurrence databases via MedOBIS and GBIF Greece.
